No you don't need to register for Chat. Just sign on as a guest and type any name yo want to use.

Maybe we should just use the Chat box, this is very weird as dal has just appeared on the members list.

Yes, if you forget your password you need to enter your email address. It will then send a message to that address which will allow you to enter a new password. Try shutting the site down and starting it up again on your tablet or refreshing the page.
